Take Action Now
#VirtualActivism
Navigating activism during social distancing and quarantine is hard; we’re here to help. Take some time to review your virtual options today!
Action 1: Get ready to vote (yes, you can!)
All voters with a primary election on June 23 will be eligible to vote in the election by absentee ballot. The Board of Elections will mail you an application to request your ballot.
Sign up to receive email and text message updates at nycvotes.nyccfb.info/vote_smart, or text VOTESMART to 917-979-6377.
Action 2: Virtual phone bank for your local candidate.
Action 3: Contact your electeds.
Dear NYS Senator, In celebration of Pride Month and recognition of the impact of COVID-19 on the LGBTQ community, I urge you to support an LGBT awareness curriculum and instruction (S1478) in NYS school districts. Students should understand the history of the LGBTQ rights movement, especially as states continue to roll back such protections today. Thank you for your support.
Dear U.S. Senator, I urge you to support the Equality Act (S788), prohibiting discrimination based on sex, sexual orientation, and gender identity. The LGBTQ workforce has been disproportionally affected by this pandemic and we cannot further compromise our civil rights during this time. Thank you.
Action 4: Tweet it out.
The @US_FDA needs to further ease blood donation restrictions. This is unfounded discrimination against the LGBT community. #pridemonth

We don’t fit into the categories on your forms. We should be able to choose mother, father, or gender-neutral parent for our child’s birth certificate. Vote YES on S46. #pridemonth
Action 5: Reduce isolation for LGBTQ seniors.
Volunteer with SAGEConnect to reach out to seniors and create community with a 15-minute phone call once/week for 6 weeks. Sign up for your weekly call.
